Home / Environmental

We find environmental hazards, test for them, and oversee the cleanup, for federal, state and local agencies.

What we handle.

Plain descriptions of the work, so you can tell quickly whether your requirement fits.

Hazardous materials surveys

Find asbestos, lead paint and other hazards in a building before renovation or demolition starts.

Asbestos, lead and mold

Testing to confirm what is there, then monitoring during removal so it is done safely and on record.

Workplace air and safety

Air monitoring and exposure checks that keep workers and building occupants safe. Also called industrial hygiene.

Water testing

Sampling for Legionella and other water quality concerns, with samples sent to an accredited lab under chain of custody.

Soil and site assessments

Environmental site assessments and soil sampling before a property is sold, built on or returned.

Cleanup oversight

Independent oversight of abatement and remediation, so the work follows the plan and the paperwork is complete.

How a job runs.

One owner accountable from the first call to the final report.

  1. Review

We read your requirement and tell you plainly whether it fits.

  2. Plan

Scope, schedule, safety plan and the right people for the job.

  3. Do the work

Field work, sampling and oversight, with one point of contact throughout.

  4. Report

Clear results, lab data, chain of custody records and closeout documents.

Who does what.

What SBS does

  • Runs the contract and is your single point of contact
  • Plans the work, the schedule and the safety requirements
  • Oversees field crews and checks the work against the plan
  • Controls samples and their chain of custody
  • Writes and delivers the reports

What we bring in

  • Licensed abatement and hazardous substance removal contractors
  • Accredited laboratories for sample analysis
  • Licensed engineers or geologists when a scope calls for them

Every teaming partner is named in our bid, with their licence and role.

Straight answers on licensing

SBS does not hold a California contractor's licence. Work that legally requires one, such as asbestos or hazardous substance removal, is done by a licensed contractor on our team, and we say so up front.

If your solicitation names a licence, accreditation or certification, we will tell you who on the team holds it.

Who we're set up for.
